Welcome to Reforge Counseling, PLLC
Reforge Counseling is grounded in the belief that people are capable of healing, growth, and meaningful change, even after difficult experiences or long-standing patterns of struggle. Life can leave individuals feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. Reforge offers a space to slow down, gain clarity, and reconnect with what matters most.
Therapy focus on support for anxiety, depression, substance use and addiction, trauma, burnout, relationship challenges, and life transitions. The counseling process is compassionate, honest, and collaborative, with an emphasis on creating a space where clients feel safe, understood, and supported in making lasting change.
The name Reforge reflects the idea that adversity can be part of a process of rebuilding. Like metal shaped under pressure, people can emerge from hardship with greater resilience, purpose, and self-understanding. Growth is about reconnecting with strengths that have been overlooked or buried over time.
Reforge Counseling exists to support meaningful healing and steady, sustainable change for those seeking a more grounded and intentional life.
Meet Taylor
Taylor J. Avery, MSW, LCSW
Hi, I’m Taylor Avery, an LCSW in Texas, and I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of North Texas. I specialize in working with individuals navigating substance use, trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, anxiety, and depression, and I have extensive experience in both individual and intensive outpatient settings.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, person-centered, direct, and focused on meaningful change. I integrate evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, ACT, IFS, REBT, positive psychology, and Brainspotting to help clients not only understand their patterns, but actively shift them. I tend to be both supportive and honest, creating a space where you feel safe to open up, while also being challenged to grow. I emphasize experiential work and practical tools so therapy isn’t just insight-driven, but something you can apply in your daily life. Ultimately, my goal is to help you build resilience, increase self-awareness, and move toward a life that aligns with your values.
In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, collaborative conversation where we begin getting a clear picture of what’s bringing you in and what you want to change. I’ll ask some questions about your background, current challenges, and goals, but it won’t feel like an interrogation—more like us starting to connect the dots together. We’ll also talk about what you want out of therapy and begin identifying a direction that feels meaningful and realistic. My style is both supportive and direct, so you can expect honesty, curiosity, and a space where you don’t have to filter yourself. By the end of the session, you’ll have a better sense of how I work and some initial clarity on next steps.
In my free time, you can typically find me hanging out with my family outside, enjoying a spicy meal, playing music or going to concerts, or trying to improve my green thumb in the garden or doing my best not to break any bones mountain biking.
